"La Flamencita" is the second segment of the 8th episode in the first season of ¡Mucha Lucha!. It aired on November 9, 2002, on Kids' WB and on May 7, 2004, on Cartoon Network.
Synopsis[]
When Rikochet accidentally incapacitates a fellow wrestler, our hero is forced to stand in as part of a dancing lucha team. Unfortunately, Rikochet stinks on parquet and his new "partner" La Flamencita is less than impressed. Despite advice, Rikochet just isn't getting it. But, he can't quit. He can't give up and let La Flamencita down. So, what can he do? He can look deep inside himself and learn to dance from the heart!
Plot[]
As the episode begins, Rikochet is in the middle of a luchador match against French Twist. He is using his legs to trap French Twist. Unfortunately, French Twist was not going down that easy as he whips out an imaginary rubber chicken and used it to knock Rikochet backwards. Rikochet decides to use his "Spinning Top" move towards French Twist, only for the mime-themed luchador to put an imaginary wall in front of Rikochet, stopping him in his track. As French Twist conjures an imaginary block to drop on Rikochet, Rikochet jumps backwards and goes into "Pulverizing Pinball" to knock French Twist out of the ring. Too bad French Twist ends up crashing into Botas del Fuego, the dance partner of a flamenco-themed luchador, La Flamencita. Seconds later, the imaginary block falls on top of French Twist and Botas del Fuego.
While Rikochet is declared the winner of the match, La Flamecita angrily confronts Rikochet for injuring her partner. However, because La Flamencita only communicates by clacking her castanets and dancing, Buena Girl has to translate as she can speak flamenco. It is also revealed that because Botas del Fuego is injured and needs a whole week to recover, it means that she does not have a partner to take on the "cheeky annoying bad guy team", Ballroom Blitzkriegs, a pair of ballroom themed luchadors. Just when La Flamencita is about to beat up Rikochet for causing her dance partner to be out of commission, the Headmistress arrives by descending from the ceiling. While the Headmistress stops the issue from escalating, she punishes Rikochet by having him serve as La Flamencita's new dance partner, before disappearing in a puff of smoke.
There is a problem: Rikochet does not know how to dance the flamenco. This is demonstrated when La Flamencita can dance and clack her castanets easily, Rikochet, in contrast, messes up too often. Sr. Hasbeena does attempt to teach Rikochet how to dance, only to accidentally knock himself out.
Later, while Buena Girl is at home getting her hair done, she gets a phone call from Rikochet, who is in need of help and the fact he can't dance. Buena Girl tells him that he is going to let down La Flamencita, which Rikochet admits it is true. Buena Girl suggests to go to her place and tell her about how much of a letdown he was.
Later that night, Rikochet heads over to La Flamencita's place. He was about to ring the doorbell, only to stop and see her dancing away with her parents to flamenco music. Knowing that La Flamencita has a passion for dancing given that she inherited it from her parents, Rikochet decides to not let her down and get to learn dancing properly.
At home, Rikochet is moping about his incapability of dancing, only for El Rey to snap him out of his funk by revealing that El Rey will be the one to teach Rikochet how to dance. El Rey tells Rikochet that in order to dance properly, he needs to think of it as an extension of lucha libre and that he should use his heart, not feet, to guide him through flamenco dancing.
The following morning, Buena Girl tells La Flamencita that Rikochet is late but will show up. While La Flamencita is unsurprised at Rikochet not showing up and acknowledges that accidents happen, she also reveals that she has Snow Pea as her replacement. Thankfully, Rikochet shows up and displays his new flamenco dance moves to his friends. Soon the match between the Ballroom Blitzkriegs and the team of Rikochet and La Flamencita commences.
As soon as the dance battle begins, both tag teams charge at each other with the Ballroom Blitzkrieg sent flying backwards from the collision. But the two refuse to back down and charge at Rikochet who also got flung backwards as well. Thankfully, La Flamencita uses her fan to stop the Ballroom Blitzkriegs in their tracks and swat them away. As the two flamenco partners get close for an attack, the Ballroom Blitzkriegs decide to tower over their opponents by having the female ballroom dancer ride on her partner's shoulders, before charging forward again. Seeing this, La Flamencita rides on Rikochet's shoulders before the two come running at them as well. Both keep their distances from each other to avoid getting hit only for La Flamencita hurt the two with her castanets, causing the Ballroom Blitzkriegs to lose balance. Rikochet then steps on the male Ballroom Blitzkrieg dancer's foot, which not only causes the female Ballroom Blitzkrieg dancer to fly out of the ring, but also has his suit ripped leaving him in his underwear, causing him to flee in embarrassment. Both Rikochet and La Flamencita do a brief victory flamenco dance. Rikochet ends the performance by handing La Flamencita a rose, which she happily accepts and kisses him.
It's then revealed that the female Ballroom Blitzkrieg dancer has landed on top of The Flea. Unfortunately, because the female Ballroom Blitzkrieg dancer gets injured in the process and needs a week to recover, The Flea ends up becoming the dance partner for the male Ballroom Blitzkrieg dancer, much to The Flea's dismay.
